Allow yourself time to take a class with me...

It's a common problem. Putting things off, dropping your own passions to the bottom of the to do list, we've all been there. But when was the last time you allowed yourself to indulge in the time to really get creative?

All set up to welcome participants to my workshops at Black Chalk Winery

I hosted the first of a series of upcoming workshops at Black Chalk Winery, nr Andover in Hampshire, UK at the end of March 2025. The venue set the scene beautifully - rolling countryside, quiet and intimate Loft space in which to work, and a delicious lunch provided, which of course included a glass of Black Chalk Classic.

The size of the group I was leading allowed for plenty of one to one help and tuition, while also encouraging engaging conversation about art, stitching, nature and the act of making, throughout the day.

Although the theme of my workshops dictate most aspects of what we cover, spending time with individuals, means I am able to tailor what we cover to each attendees needs and interests. I love creative problem solving too, so suggesting solutions pertinent to the way you work or stitch, learning from my examples and finished pieces, can be invaluable to attendees to these classes.

All my classes are based on Handwork - the art of stitching by hand, embroidering, appliqueing, piecing and quilting. I'm not an extoller of patterns and 'must do' lists, instead I will empower you to work with your own ideas, the materials you have to hand and the skills you already possess, while helping you to build on these techniques so you are able to create your own, unique interpretations on a theme.

My next class at this venue takes place on Saturday 10th May, 10am - 4pm and we will be making a small quilt top, inspired by Black Chalk Winery. We will take time to notice the sights, sounds and scents of the vineyard itself, learn about the history of the land it its sited on, and discover more about the wines produced here. All of this inspiration will be tied together in a design unique to you, something you can continue working on at home.

I invite you to invest in yourself, in a day of indulgence, learning and stitching, and above all, time. You deserve it.
